The opening reception for Olivia Whetung's exhibition gaa-waategamaag was held yesterday evening in the main gallery at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art. Viewers will be pleasantly surprised by the tiny meticulously-made beadwork, and captivated by the way in which these pieces shimmer and gleam under the gallery lights. The beadworks are made up of transparent, opaque, and iridescent beads, giving the impression of water-like reflection as one moves in front of the work. If you have not been to the gallery to see this exhibition yet, I highly recommend you do!
